What personally identifiable information does Seed and Spoon collect?
In various places on our website, we gather email addresses and other basic contact information for the purpose of allowing people to subscribe to our publications, to purchase Farm Shares or items in our online store, or to sign up for our weekend retreat or events. Our website may set “cookies” for the purpose of collecting aggregate statistics about the total number of visitors to our website. Cookies help us remember and process the items in your shopping cart. They are also used to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current site activity, which enables us to provide you with improved services. We do not store any personally identifiable information in cookies. Some of our online publications may use coded hyperlinks to identify and track personally identifiable information about individuals’ interactions with our website.
How does Seed and Spoon use personally identifiable information?
Seed and Spoon will never sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information unless we provide you with advance notice. This does not include website hosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety.
We partner with third-party service providers to host our website and to process credit card transactions. Third-party service providers are not permitted to use or share any personally identifiable information that we provide to them. Seed and Spoon does not share any of the personally identifiable information we collect with other outside parties, unless we have received your specific permission to do so. We may use personally identifiable records of people’s interactions with our online publications as a means to better understand their various interests. At some point in time, this information may be used to personalize the publications and other information individuals receive from us. Like most website operators, our web servers create log files. These track data on Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to enable us to administer the site, analyze trends, track user movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. Server log files do not contain personally identifiable information.
How does Seed and Spoon protect personally identifiable information?
Seed and Spoon takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, their information is protected both online and off-line. All transactions that use credit card information are processed through a gateway provider and are not stored or processed on our servers. We do everything in our power to protect user information off-line as well. All of our users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. All of our databases are password-protected to ensure that unauthorized users cannot access sensitive data.
